I LOVE this build–it’s pretty much everything I want! Disc brakes, Alfine IGH, fenders, on a do-it-all frame. How are you liking it?
I am really, really liking it a lot in fact! I have upgraded to a nice Tubus rear touring rack, a different stem, and a set of Juicy 5 brakes/discs but otherwise I’ve been riding the build described above all winter and spring. I probably have six or seven hundred miles on it so far and its proving a worthy steed.
The Alfine rear hub is very smooth, precise, and provides a good range. The Troll frame only accepts a 160mm rear disc and I currently have a 203mm disc with a couple of adapters on it to make it work. I think I’m going to switch back to the 160mm disc because all the adapters look really goofy.
any pictures of the rear disc caliper and possibly adapters?
I’m building a troll now, and would like to see your adaptation.
thanks
Very nice, and just what I’m working on building right now too. I’m building a Troll with an Alfine (11 speed) and am pondering how best to arrange the cassette joint bracket, which I think is a bit longer on the 11 speed than the 8 speed. Would you be able to show a picture of how you arranged this on yours? The pannier just obscures the vital information in this picture! Thanks.
